a week already

Its hard to believe that i've already completed a whole week of class. I'm finding it pretty easy to fall back into the role of student, but this is gonna be really hard. A lot of work will be involved in completing my masters. A lot. I had a big shock the other day when my advisor was discussing our theses with all the other first year MAs and he mentioned how long our final theses would need to be. I was thinking it would be like 40-60 pages, which is a lot, but it seems manageable. When he said that it would be hard to get by with anything less than 80 pages, i about fell off my chair. It seems that 80-120 pages would be acceptable. yikes. I can do it though. i think.
anyway, class is good. The faculty member here who teaches scene design and puppetry courses, as well as theatre history, is very good at puppetry stuff and he has a ton of connections throughout the puppetry course. which is exciting. I'm thinking that he'll probably end up being my advisor.
Everything else here is going fine, Laurel's still looking for a job, she has several applications in and some good prospects, plus several people who are keeping there ears open for us for other job openings, so hopefully that all falls into place soon.
the weather here is good, we've had rain the last couple of days, so its been nice and cool.

moving on

Well, i have completed the GradSTEP program at BGSU, which means i'm all set to start classes on Monday. If you haven't heard, i did get an assistantship, though not from the theatre department. instead, i will be working for the Instructional Media Services assisting profs who wish to incorporate more technology into their classes. I think it will be a good experience.
anyway, i will start class on monday, i'm taking a theatre history course, a writing and research methods class, a costume design class, and an international puppetry class. I'm excited. the Profs i've met so far have been very friendly and cool, and so are the other grad students.
laurel has been working in toledo the past couple of days at a printing company, just part time, she's not gonna go back there after this week, though. The owner/boss is a real meany and a jerk.
not much else new. it is very nice here in bowling green. we are liking it.

its all happening

well, i start orientation tomorrow. I still haven't heard about funding, so hopefully i can find out some more in the next couple of days. I am looking forward to starting, though, so i really hope everything works out.
Its been very nice here, the last few days have been really nice, with some cool breezes, so we haven't had to run the ac at all. We hope it stays this way for a while.
We went on a quick trip to Canada this weekend, in order to see Jon Horlings and Beth Terpstra perform Jon's play "Please, Give Generously" at the London, ON Fringe Festival. It was about a 3-3 1/2 hour drive, we camped with several friends overnight, and saw a couple really good plays in London. It was a really good time. its nice to be close to our friends.
Finally, we got a new cell phone plan, so you will have to email us for our new numbers.
Hope you are all well.

we've been here over a week now, and things are going well. laurel's looking for a job, i'm playing with the cat. it still hasn't quite sunk in that we live here, still feels kind of like vacation. but we like it.

houses in bg, downtown bg, and the beginnings of home

taking shape

well, we've been here a few days now, and the apartment is starting to feel like a home, instead of a depsitory for boxes. The stress and frustration of all those stupid little moving details like liscences and the like is leaving us pretty exhausted, but we are making good progress. here are some photos:
